Writing that second thriller.

I should start by stating that my first thriller is in the hands of an editor, and that I will need to revise and polish it before going through the steps of searching for an agent to represent it, and me. The past two years felt like being on a roller-coaster ride. Most days, I was in the thrill of the climb, feeling excited and imbued with the electrifying sense of being alive. And then, the reality of going through draft after draft, after draft. Sometimes, I focused on grammar, others on syntax and sentence structure, and procrastinating. It was overwhelming at times, but ultimately empowering.

Finishing it gives me the confidence to continue writing. My skills have developed , and my appreciation for the craft is at an all time high. Emotionally, I’ve run the gamut, and emerged more determined than ever to create queer thrillers that openly and proudly represent a trans woman protagonist. It’s taken me a minute to realize what a finished novel should look like, and my preconceived notions eroded, leaving behind a deeper understanding of the work necessary to finally write the end.

So, I’m now working on the second installment of the Mary Dubois Thrillers. I will apply what I have learned on the first one, and even if I think of myself as an imposter at times, I will persist because I do think I have an interesting story to spin for you, dear reader. Besides, I love the whole writing process. As much as my first novel is special to me, this second one will have its own niche. The main character and her friends will further develop, and I’ll have a grand old time.

Writing is hard, coming. up with a sequel worthy of the original is a challenge, one that I gladly embrace. I know I’ve been going on about my thriller for a spell, but do hang in there and I promise you I will do everything I can to bring these stories to you. Mary Dubois is as real to me as any person I know, and I cannot wait share her exploits and adventures with everyone. The working title for the second thriller is Shadow Convert.
